FAQs - booking United States flights

  • Can I get direct flights to Manila, Philippines, from the US?

Yes, 40 airlines fly to and from Manila. Philippine Airlines currently provides a nonstop flight from Los Angeles Airport (LAX) and a 17h direct trip from John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK). If you’re not coming from Los Angeles or New York, you can use KAYAK to compare airlines that offer the quickest possible connecting routes to Manila.

  • Which nearby cities does Ninoy Aquino International Airport (MNL) serve?

Ninoy Aquino International Airport (MNL) serves several cities within an eight-mile radius. It is therefore the preferred hub to use when you want to connect to cities, such as Paranaque, Makati, La Pinas, Mandaluyong, Bacoor, and the Philippines capital, Manila.

  • What are the visa requirements to travel to the Philippines?

If you’re an American citizen planning to travel to the Philippines, you can enter the country without a visa. However, if you intend to stay for more than 30 days, you must apply for a temporary visitor’s visa before entering the Philippines. You also must have a passport valid for six months after your intended stay in the Philippines.

  • Which terminal in Manila, Philippines, should I land in?

There are four main airports in Manila, with Clark International (CRK) being the closest to Ninoy Aquino International Airport (MNL). However, all major incoming traffic from international countries like the US land in Terminal 1 of Metro Manila’s busiest airport, Ninoy Aquino International. If you have a connecting local flight, you will need to catch the airport’s free shuttle bus to transfer to Terminal 4, which exclusively handles domestic flights.

  • Is there a designated pickup and drop-off zone in Manila Airport (MNL)?

If you’re not renting a car or forgot to make pickup arrangements on arrival, you can choose between yellow, white, or the fixed-rate coupon taxis located at the taxi rank outside each departure terminal. Yellow-metered taxis have reasonable rates at ₱70 ($1.40) for the first 1,640 feet and ₱4 ($0.08) for every 980 feet after that.

  • How does KAYAK find such low prices on flights from Manila to the United States?

KAYAK is a travel search engine. That means we look across the web to find the best prices we can find for our users. With over 2 billion flight queries processed yearly, we are able to display a variety of prices and options on flights from Manila to the United States.

  • How does KAYAK's flight Price Forecast tool help me choose the right time to buy my flight ticket from Manila to the United States?

KAYAK’s flight Price Forecast tool uses historical data to determine whether the price for a flight to the United States from Manila is likely to change within 7 days, so travelers know whether to wait or book now.

  • What is the Hacker Fare option on flights from Manila to the United States?

Hacker Fares allow you to combine one-way tickets in order to save you money over a traditional round-trip ticket. You could then fly to the United States with an airline and back to Manila with another airline.

  • What is KAYAK's "flexible dates" feature and why should I care when looking for a flight from Manila to the United States?

Sometimes travel dates aren't set in stone. If your preferred travel dates have some wiggle room, flexible dates will show you all the options when flying to the United States from Manila up to 3 days before/after your preferred dates. You can then pick the flights that suit you best.

Good experience but could be better for people with injuries and needing extra assistance

Plane is new and I was upgraded to first class so all was great.

The flight from Taipei to LAX was the first time we encountered rudeness from the crew. From the gate agents to the in flight crew. We had received such wonderful service going to Bali and on our Bali to Taipei flight that it shocked us when the gate agent was rude and then the rudeness continued on the flight to LAX.

Overall great experience. All four members of my family were seated together without paying extra to reserve seats. Everything was on time. Food was great and healthy. Media entertainment was good. Rock music could be added as a listening choice. No issue with baggages. Flight attendants were friendly and helpful. I would recommend EVA to friends and family.

As a senior traveller it’s difficult to be seated all the way at the back

The hygiene of the bathrooms were terrible. Urine smells leaked out into the cabin and the seats were really tight, even for a petite woman like myself. Flight attendants did not go through the cabin enough to offer refreshments.

I was expecting that movie selection and food would have been better. Everything else was great.

On time. Great service. Good food. Good movies. All good!

The type of the food requested (Asian vegetarian) was not properly met with. They have very limited snack items that may compensate for the main meals.

The flight was ok. The person who brings tea and coffee totally forgot about us or just walked past at both meals. And special attention is given if you are Taiwanese

We purchased premium economy seats 9 months ago and got bumped to economy when we tried to board the plane. It was a huge fiasco while they struggled to find us seats. I tried reaching out to Kayak to see how we can get refunded for the extra money we spent on premium but have heard nothing back. It was a 14 hour flight and were disappointed that we lost our seats after selecting them 9 months ago.

Domestic flight, 1hr 20mins from SFO to LAX, which takes about probably 40-30mins on air.

Easy if you are a United States Citizen, when you go to US Border & Customs, bring your Passport if you arrive Internationally. Remember to pick up your check baggage before moving into domestic flights, as they will check the tag for the plane you are boarding in. (They will check your baggage again). Bring your ID/DL (Real-ID COMPLIANT) with you to pass security/TSA, passport works too. SFO is pretty strict as well as LAX. Domestic flight, 1hr 20mins from SFO to LAX, which takes about probably 40-30mins on air.

The seats are too small for international flights. I felt like cattle.

Boarding was quick and efficient. The food was very good and they had pictures showing you what options there were to avoid misunderstandings.

As my first experience in business class it was a great trip considering how long the flight is and how hard it usually is to sleep in economy

Boarding was fast and efficient. Not a cramped plane and good comfort. Food was great and attendants were very nice.

Chair was broken. Crew was awesome. Food was eh. Dinner food not so good the sandwich was good ( for airplane food) headphones hurt my ears. It’s hard because no one has plug in earphones

Crew was professional. Never enough leg room for 12 hour overnight flight.

ANA crews are superb, very responsive and caring. Boarding was smooth and so as the landing. Great flights we had with ANA.

Food was excellent, the crew was exceptionally friendly, and the seats were comfortable. Bathroom were also kept very clean and odor free.

They woke us up 2.5 hours before the flight was over? Why? If I'm on a long haul flight I want to sleep as much as possible. Also, didn't mention the mattress pads in business class so missed out on using those. The western meal of truffle, salmon pasta was the awful. Had a different fish dish on JAL that was great but that pasta was a mish-mash of too many random things that didn't make sense plus dry fish. Staff was friendly and helpful.

I loved Ryuichi Sakamoto's OPUS in the movie choice.

Too bad the plane didn't work after we taxied out to get in line for take-off. We went back to the gate and waited for almost 90 minutes for them to find a plane that worked. Waited another hour to board. When we got to Rochester we waited for over an hour for our bags to appear. The agent said they only had three people working to load and unload baggage. A one hour flight took an extra four hours. It would have been faster to rent a car at JFK and drive to Rochester.

Good legroom. Front seatback has best compartmentalization, netted pockets on sides of tv monitor for eyeglasses, water bottles etc. For Economy, best food across the Pacific. JAL doesn't skimp on quality to squeeze out more profit. No prepackaged items in plastic wrap. Cocktail service first with nibbles, Wine in your own 2 glass bottle. Later dinner service, more wine! Lastly, breakfast-lunch, more wine if you choose. Lastly, the friendliest most smiling crew across the Pacific.

I said the boarding was just par with other airlines, but I can't think of a way to improve it.

bag dropped took over an hour. there was only one agent behind the counter. Definitely need improvements on food! crews were very pleasant n helpful

everything was great except for the plane itself looking worn out.

It was great, but the wifi service was very hard to pay and I barely could use it during my trip. The seats are also a bit tough for tall people (economy area). Other than that, it was a pleasant experience.

The airline was very clean, and the crew very kind and thoughtful.

Airline itself is great. While food was being taken off of my tray my beer spilled which was a total accident and I wasn’t upset about that, what was frustrating was I had to ask for towels to clean up and wipe my leg. It would have been left as is if I hadn’t.

Bars and restaurants in Taipei close early. The lounge isn’t very good, but better than the public areas.

Short lay over. Seat assignment was terrible. Was traveling as a family and end up being seated separately. Will not use underpricer ever again.

Not many selections for entertainment. Bulk head seats are no longer available with out fee at the counter. That’s pretty lame.

All of the staff were very helpful, polite I was very satisfied with China Airlines The food was normal for airlines but I’m sure they could do better

The flight who provided services on my row had some not-nice attitude and not smiling at all.

My flight to Los Angeles was canceled Had to book another flight and you charged me extra $500 Very bad experience

Comfort was left wanting due to such a long flight, made the wife and I wish we could upgrade the seats to Business class or First Class, but did not have that option. Food was good but had very limited options and I have a dietary restriction which was difficult for the staff to accommodate since everything provided came with cheese on it. (Cheese could potentially kill me) Did not have an option to inform the staff until we were already in the air about the restriction and was not provided another option before flight departed.

Decent flight, staff was very good, especially with the turbulence during the flight due to weather. Comfort was about par with other airlines but since it was a quick flight, was not much of an issue for us.

The plane was uncomfortable. I paid extra for more legroom but the seat was still uncomfortable. Other seats on the same exact row didn’t have to pay extra but still have extra legroom. I didn’t understand why I needed to pay $170 for. It was Iike China airline just wants to make money off their passengers. It was unfair.

My finger has been hurt by seat, but no answer from you.

Great ride! arrived safe and sound. Everything was great altho its still uncomfortable seats too small space to pass through in.

Not much legroom in economy seats and aisle. Bathrooms are not maintained well. Staff can be friendlier. Food is barely edible.

The PAL employee who assisted my minor children went above and beyond her job and our expectations! Sophia was kind, courteous and made sure my children were taken care of!

Service was good but food needs maybe it’s just me Cause I am a foodservice supervisor more menu Sampling to get better quality when packed to be reheated . Vegetables are already dark and over cooked and breaded entrees are not the best choice I guess . All airlines meal service doesn’t appeal To me.Cause this trip I’ve used 4 different airlines and nothing good in all of them food wise. Thanks

Overall it’s very acceptable I will gave an A.

They were two hours late!! Threw everything else planned off.

Flight was cancelled and rescheduled to 205 in the morning at the peril of passengers. No hotels provided by the airline. Passengers left stranded at airport. Not acceptable. I was able to get a hotel at my own cost outside of the airport. No reimbursement. Won’t be my choice in for future travels.

Worst airline. They had 3 security checks just to get onboard and no notification prior. Had to throw away any liquid bought at duty free because one of the security checks was prior to boarding the plane. My onboard media console was not working, the flight attendant said they will check on it but did nothing. Pretended we did not ask for it to be rectified for a 17hr plane ride. Horrible experience. My first and last time taking Philippines Airlines.

Uncomfortable seats for international flights. No usb charging yet they want you to use your device for entertainment. Very poor.
