  • Are there nonstop flights to the Philippines?

For travelers flying to the Philippines from outside of California, it’s not likely that you’ll find a direct route. Currently, the only nonstop flights to the Philippines depart from Los Angeles and San Francisco. All of the nonstop flights from these two cities arrive in the Philippines' busiest international airline hub: Manila.

  • Is a visa required to visit the Philippines?

US citizens that plan to stay in the Philippines for less than 30 days must present a valid passport and a ticket to leave the Philippines to receive their entry visa.

  • Where should I fly into to get to Boracay?

One of the most convenient ways to get to Boracay is to fly from Manila to the island of Panay in the Visayas. From Manila, you can fly to either Kalibo or Caticlan on Panay Island and the flight time to both is around 1h. You can also get a ferry to Boracay from either of these cities.

  • I want to visit Davao, where should I fly into?

Davao is one of the commerce hubs of the Philippines and traveling to Davao directly from the United States will require a connecting flight. Flights from the US to Davao will fly into Mati Airport (DVO) after a connecting flight through Manila or Cebu.

Top tips for finding a cheap flight out of the United States

  • When booking your flight from US to the Philippines, you’ll most likely have a layover. The most common layovers take place in Vancouver, Shanghai and Seoul, with companies such as Philippine Airlines and Air Canada covering these routes.
  • For travelers looking to book a flight with as few stops as possible, you’ll want to book a flight to either Cebu or Manila. Most of the international air traffic from the United States will come through these major cities, with the most popular routes being operated by Eva Air and Cathay Pacific.
  • If you’re planning on seeing as much as possible throughout your time in the Philippines, Cebu can be a great option to fly into due to its location at the center of the collection of islands making up the Philippines. This city is also a major air hub that offers regional flights that go all over the country.
  • For those looking to travel to multiple islands in the Philippines after their flight, one of the most affordable ways to traverse the water between the islands is by ferry. The Philippines are connected with a dense system of ferry routes, with different boat types available to suit your budget and level of desired comfort.
  • The accepted currency in the Philippines is the Philippine peso but bringing cash to change into pesos can be a wasted effort, as ATM fees in the Philippines are comparable to what they are in the US, and the exchange rate can be more reliable through ATMs. If you’ll be using an ATM, using one while you’re still in or near the airport can be beneficial, as ATMs on some smaller islands are few and far between.

I won't hesitate to fly with Korean Air again and agian....if I can get a good deal.

The flight attendants seemed to be a little more grumpy this time. A350s could use more toilet stalls.

Absolutely horrible. The fight member crew or not very friendly and the food was horrible.

It would be better if flight crew can clearly communicate in english. But they are kind and accommodating. Food is good, especially the sandwiches on the self-serving snack trays. They are better than the ones served. Boarding was organized.

So far one of the good one , whenever I go to Korea , I always use Korean airline .

They could have had more up to date movies/better choice of music.

Terrible experience will never fly Delta again. Delayed flight with total disorganization and inept crew who wouldn’t communicate.

Will try never to fly Delta international again. Flight delayed and staff completely inept in dealing with it. Would not communicate, rude, completely disorganized. Once we reached Seoul the staff there had no idea what to do with us and led us around the airport from one pointless line to another. They were clearly not told how to manage the situation even though they had hours to make a plan. Never again.

They texted me my gate number and then they texted me again it’s now boarding but in different gate, and the gate was so far from the gate they texted me earlier. I have to run just to get to my flight. They always do that.

Food tasted pretty good. Boarding was very smooth and efficient, compared to all other airlines I’ve been on. I have flown EVA, Cathay, Asiana, British Airways, and many USA brands. Cabin attendants were also efficient and professional.

Good experience but could be better for people with injuries and needing extra assistance

It was a good flight. I would highly recommend it to family and friends.

The employees were professional and efficient. I consider myself a traveler but have trouble with the international fare served on airplanes. I admit Americans buy their food in the supermarket and we typically don’t eat the ligaments and cartilage. I know that is whiny but as I age, I dislike it more. At least things weren’t covered in cheese. The desserts are terrible! My neighbor didn’t eat her bread so I asked if I could have it. First time for everything but had been traveling a total of 27 hours and was hungry.

The night flight was only 2/3 full, which is always a plus. Room to stretch out for sleeping. Gracious stewardesses, attentive, and slim/attractive (which is rare these days). Good food, and curtesy wine.with meals. Comfortable seats and decent leg room (economy class)

On time service. Seat comfort and the crew service very good .

Only one Hindi movie from LAvto Taipei and same movie from Taipei to Singapore Really horrible and we call it entertainment???

Food was ok. Could have been better. Entertainment was limited, especially for kids.

The crew was very helpful. Food was prepared with great care and tasted wonderful. Movie selection was a bit limited. The bedding on the seat is a little too thin for sleeping.

Their announcement was not quite clear in Chinese. The rest is pretty good.

The hygiene of the bathrooms were terrible. Urine smells leaked out into the cabin and the seats were really tight, even for a petite woman like myself. Flight attendants did not go through the cabin enough to offer refreshments.

Food was hood for airline food with good poftion and variety in meals. Frequency of beverage service was very low and amount of soda with meals was inadequate.

Excellent service provided the flight crew. Food and drinks were very good.

Meal options for vegetarians can be provided… Nothing was offered for me for dinner.. crew just said no vegetarian option available and did even bother to provide any alternatives or something to eat.

Cathay has a great reputation, though it's baseline economy seating is nothing to write home about (and SE Asia flight passengers sometime lack 'routine stateside' etiquette). On the other hand, food was great, flight attendants were nice, and price was very good~

I was really impressed with the experience it was my first trip overseas. Nice staff

Not enough food for everyone. . Always run out of food when we ask

Customer service was exceptional. I heard it wasn’t a great airline, my opinion has changed after flying with them

Cathay flight was fine, Amsterdam airport was a nightmare, spent way too much time walking to our next connection, no travelators.

Mediocre. Nothing special. Bad airline food Never received the food I requested Slow response from ground staff concerning my wheelchair. I was left at a holding area and had to walk the distance to the gate. In Hong Kong

Bathroom was not cleaned as often as other airlines does. It was gross for a less than full flight capacity.

There was no USB plug in my section of the plane. So I could not charge my phone. Also, there was no screen to watch movie or anything like that. Wish I had known that in advance, I would’ve brought my iPad.

Had a crying baby and a toddler behind me so it was difficult to get comfortable. Searing was tight even for a relatively small person like myself (5’8” 155). Fast flight but arrived so early the gate assigned was still occupied by another plane so we had to wait for about 20-25 minutes to get reassigned to a new gate and get over there.

Best part: It’s operated by All Nippon Airways. It’s quite literally comfortable, reliable and respected from boarding to landing each and every time. It’s perfection without extremity in lavishness — it’s how flying should always be!

The flight attendants were unhelpful. It was a packed flight, and usually a flight attendant would help find a spot in the bin for your carry on or shift things around. Neither made any effort to do so. Also, I had to then check my bag. I was told it would be on the carousel in YYZ, but it came up on the jetway. So lucky I saw others standing around for their bags. I would have walked straight past this and on to the carousel. They could have at least told me that they had given me wrong information. Very unsatisfactory.

Made all groups except 2 check despite ample bin space. Inflight WiFi and entertainment didn’t work most of the time.

The check-in process is not the best They should have agents in site to help with any problem especially a rebook. Why does one have to get on the phone when there were at least 8 agents around that could have help?! Flying is stressful as it is and having someone willing to do their customer service will ease some of the stress.

It was a good flight. Nothing comes to mind about how it could have been better. It was a newer plane, seemed like a great upgrade from your older ones. Staff was very good as well.

Seats are smaller and harder than other airlines we have travels with. Food was edible but no good. The sandwich was the only thing I would eat again. They did have a lot of movies to watch.

boarding was uneventful. Snack was pathetic. A tiny fruit bar. Entertainment was limited to just select movies on your own tablet or phone. No live TV. I recently flew Jetblue and they had unlimited snacks and live satellite TV the entire flight. My seat was an exit seat, 20A. It was super uncomfortable. It felt cramped and the middle seat was taken up by a large woman who pushed into my shoulder and arm. Horrible flight.

I liked that the flight to Kosice was on time, the service was excellent and we arrived to Vienna early. The only thing I did not like, is that I had to pay for my suitcase $75. Bummer

Everything was great, except for the inflight entertainment, which wouldn't work on my Samsung Zflip. The flight was smooth despite the heavy rains exiting Tokyo. The cabin crew were very attentive and friendly. I had the pork katsudon, which was very tender and flavorful.

Expensive and yet uncomfortable. Was told by the crew to get back to us for the breakfast meal but never returned, my child was hungry

Flight left on time landed early, Crew was great , never an easy job. Bags arrived in a timely manner . Good job all in all.

Food was great. Hot meals. Entertainment- not so good. They only showed one tv filipino series with only 3 episodes for a 14 hour flight.

Ground and flight crew very courteous and professional. Seats are just ok. Entertainment could be upgraded with newer movies. Food was not good at all.

Food was satisfactory, movie monitor not working. Other than that on time and pleasant crew.

First and foremost it was a Philippine Airlines.my experiences ,number one non- stop flight no lay over not other airlines, number two ,boarding they calling by ground letter.number 3 stay on time no delay flight

Worst airline. They had 3 security checks just to get onboard and no notification prior. Had to throw away any liquid bought at duty free because one of the security checks was prior to boarding the plane. My onboard media console was not working, the flight attendant said they will check on it but did nothing. Pretended we did not ask for it to be rectified for a 17hr plane ride. Horrible experience. My first and last time taking Philippines Airlines.

first time flying PAL/WAMOS, ang got to say, i’ve had much worst… the good: - front sitting is not too bad. legroom is pretty good considering economy standards. - staff is friendly and pleasant, starting with checkin, boarding and flight. not unforgettable, but pretty good. the bad: - boarding: stick with rules. besides priority sitting, when you say board from certain range of numbers (starting from back), make sure you let everyone know to stick with this… not with everyone letting in all at once! - food: had fish ad family members had beef. both are quite bad (saying this nicely). the fish is dry, whilest beef is rough as leather. both tasteless. - washrooms arr dirty! - seats, though good legroom, not much padding, hard on the backside! - entertainment: feature movie is the bachelor (circa 1999). no music offerings.

Bad experience... Flight schedule should be on time, ours was 2 hours delayed both ways ,Mla-Panglao-Mla. Priority lane for Seniors & PWD should be practice but our Panglao-Manila flight, both priority & regular lanes boarded the at the same time, the only difference is that we were coming on 2 different lanes. It depletes the purpose of priority lanes.
