FAQs for booking flights from Canada to the Philippines

  • Are there direct flights from Canada to the Philippines?

Philippine Airlines offers direct flights to the Philippines from Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) and from Vancouver International Airport (YVR). The flights arrive at Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Manila, which is the biggest airport in the Philippines.

  • Which flights to the Philippines with a layover are the most convenient?

Air Canada and Cathay Pacific offer flights to the Philippines with a short layover in Hong Kong, arriving either at Manila Airport or at Mactan-Cebu International Airport. Several Asian national carriers such as Japan Airlines, China Eastern and Korean Air also offer one-stop flights from Canada to the Philippines with a layover in their respective cities.

  • Where should I fly to in the Philippines?

All direct flights from Canada and the US will arrive at Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Manila. This gives travellers easy access to Manila and the surrounding areas, and serves as the hub for other domestic airlines such as Air Asia Philippines, Cebu Pacific and Philippine Airlines. If you travel to the Philippines with a layover in a neighbouring country, you might want to choose a flight to Cebu Airport. From there, you can easily access the centrally located tourist islands such as Bohol and Boracay.

  • Do I need a visa to visit the Philippines?

Canadian passport holders do not need a tourist or business visa for a stay of up to 30 days. Upon arrival, you have to present a valid Canadian passport and a return ticket to Canada or an onward ticket to your next destination. If you want to stay longer than 30 days, you can apply for an extension at the Philippines Bureau of Immigration within the 30-day period. Be aware that you have to pay a departure fee of ₱750 (approximately C$ 20) in Manila and ₱850 (approximately C$ 22) in Cebu.

  • How does KAYAK find such low prices on flights from Canada to the Philippines?

KAYAK is a travel search engine. That means we look across the web to find the best prices we can find for our users. With over 2 billion flight queries processed yearly, we are able to display a variety of prices and options on flights from Canada to the Philippines.

  • How does KAYAK's flight Price Forecast tool help me choose the right time to buy my flight ticket from Canada to the Philippines?

KAYAK’s flight Price Forecast tool uses historical data to determine whether the price for a flight to the Philippines from Canada is likely to change within 7 days, so travelers know whether to wait or book now.

  • What is the Hacker Fare option on flights from Canada to the Philippines?

Hacker Fares allow you to combine one-way tickets in order to save you money over a traditional round-trip ticket. You could then fly to the Philippines with an airline and back to Canada with another airline.

  • What is KAYAK's "flexible dates" feature and why should I care when looking for a flight from Canada to the Philippines?

Sometimes travel dates aren't set in stone. If your preferred travel dates have some wiggle room, flexible dates will show you all the options when flying to the Philippines from Canada up to 3 days before/after your preferred dates. You can then pick the flights that suit you best.

Top tips for finding a cheap flight out of Canada

  • The Philippines is home to over 7,000 islands, so generally travellers require more than one flight over the duration of their trip. Manila Airport (MNL) is the main international hub, where you can catch flights to other domestic locations such as the centrally located Mactan-Cebu International Airport (CEB) on Cebu Island, or Davao International Airport (DVO) in the South.
  • If you plan on visiting the world famous Banaue Rice Terraces in the northern part of Luzon Island, you can either fly to Manila Airport and travel by bus (a 10-12h ride) or consider flying to Cauayan Airport (CYZ), where you can arrange a private transfer from the airport (approximately 2h).
  • To explore Tubbataha Marine Park, consider flying into Puerta Princesa Airport (PPS) in the province of Palawan. From there you can reach the park and reef by boat.
  • To explore the chocolate hills on the island of Bohol, you can fly into Cebu Airport, the major hub for the Central Philippines, and take a ferry to Bohol Island.
  • Holy Week is the longest festival in the Philippines and starts on Palm Sunday, in either March or April. Be aware that flight and hotel prices tend to increase during this period.

basic and only minimum of service, they offer nothing special

friendly and professional cabin staff... seems cold and a bit aloof...

delayed and the cabin crew was like trainees.. a bit careless and not so pleasing to their job

The app was awful. No accurate info. Paying for internet is a negative (Delta is free). The crew was very nice for the most part although you are not guaranteed to get good service. Some crew would ignore requests for things as simple as a cup of water if you were sleeping when the first serving was made. Food was great. Male crew member was exceptionally kind and responsive.

Crew's attitude can be better. I asked one crew member to help to put carry on baggage into overhead bin, but he was not willing to help. I needed help because my height is short. His attitude was bad.

I think the business class service has declined as compared to how it was years ago. I am not a fan of the hello kitty graphics. Boarding was long and not well organized. The lounge in Taipei was not very good, the food was very poor. Did not live up to many international business class lounges.

Boarding was good. It will be nice to have beer anytime. I asked for a beer at tea time & I was refused. Quite disappointed

Good experience but could be better for people with injuries and needing extra assistance

It was a good flight. I would highly recommend it to family and friends.

Amazing crew, excellent food, business class seats seem a bit dated but are super comfy even for a very tall person. If continuing onto Taipei, the stopover in Bangkok is a bit annoying (queue at security) though the lounge is decent.

It was a comfortable flight and the flight crew were lovely!

Glad you had Bibimbap which tasted much better than mesh potato or pasta.

Excellent service, love the extra amenities (water bottles, blankets, etc.).

It would be better if flight crew can clearly communicate in english. But they are kind and accommodating. Food is good, especially the sandwiches on the self-serving snack trays. They are better than the ones served. Boarding was organized.

Will try never to fly Delta international again. Flight delayed and staff completely inept in dealing with it. Would not communicate, rude, completely disorganized. Once we reached Seoul the staff there had no idea what to do with us and led us around the airport from one pointless line to another. They were clearly not told how to manage the situation even though they had hours to make a plan. Never again.

They texted me my gate number and then they texted me again it’s now boarding but in different gate, and the gate was so far from the gate they texted me earlier. I have to run just to get to my flight. They always do that.

The crew and my luggage was still pretty good after a long flight. They take good care of the luggage.

Really good! I like all the crew, they were so nice and very efficient.

My flight with Korean Air went quite well, I've flown with them for many years and have grown accustomed to their great service.

The flight crews were extremely professional, helpful, and courteous. Departure and arrival times were accurate. No delay. I will use K airline again. Thanks

flight delayed 45 mins - missed connection - 1 hr layover became 8 hr layover waiting for next flight -

Fast boarding flight on time boarded plane back to front instead of stupid zone groups like US airlines do...

Baggage delayed for 2 days and still chasing for reimbursement of basis items. Very horrible customer care service.

Horrible airline. Missed my baggage and don’t want to reimburse for the basis items. Pathetic customer service

no veg food was provided eventhough i pre ordered special meal

I was really impressed with the experience it was my first trip overseas. Nice staff

It would be nice if they could have a choice of both gluten AND dairy free menu. Lots of people have problems with BOTH. I also could not get on their website to check. Phone verification issues etc( not all of us have our phones on roaming. I tried over an hour!

Cathay was not the problem. The problem was the customer service from Kayak/Underprice. Will never book through Kayak again.

The crews were smiling all the time with soft tunes when they spoke; the food was excellent. Thank you!

Mediocre. Nothing special. Bad airline food Never received the food I requested Slow response from ground staff concerning my wheelchair. I was left at a holding area and had to walk the distance to the gate. In Hong Kong

Everything was great, except for the inflight entertainment, which wouldn't work on my Samsung Zflip. The flight was smooth despite the heavy rains exiting Tokyo. The cabin crew were very attentive and friendly. I had the pork katsudon, which was very tender and flavorful.

Expensive and yet uncomfortable. Was told by the crew to get back to us for the breakfast meal but never returned, my child was hungry

Flight left on time landed early, Crew was great , never an easy job. Bags arrived in a timely manner . Good job all in all.

Food was great. Hot meals. Entertainment- not so good. They only showed one tv filipino series with only 3 episodes for a 14 hour flight.

Ground and flight crew very courteous and professional. Seats are just ok. Entertainment could be upgraded with newer movies. Food was not good at all.

Food was satisfactory, movie monitor not working. Other than that on time and pleasant crew.

First and foremost it was a Philippine Airlines.my experiences ,number one non- stop flight no lay over not other airlines, number two ,boarding they calling by ground letter.number 3 stay on time no delay flight

Worst airline. They had 3 security checks just to get onboard and no notification prior. Had to throw away any liquid bought at duty free because one of the security checks was prior to boarding the plane. My onboard media console was not working, the flight attendant said they will check on it but did nothing. Pretended we did not ask for it to be rectified for a 17hr plane ride. Horrible experience. My first and last time taking Philippines Airlines.

first time flying PAL/WAMOS, ang got to say, i’ve had much worst… the good: - front sitting is not too bad. legroom is pretty good considering economy standards. - staff is friendly and pleasant, starting with checkin, boarding and flight. not unforgettable, but pretty good. the bad: - boarding: stick with rules. besides priority sitting, when you say board from certain range of numbers (starting from back), make sure you let everyone know to stick with this… not with everyone letting in all at once! - food: had fish ad family members had beef. both are quite bad (saying this nicely). the fish is dry, whilest beef is rough as leather. both tasteless. - washrooms arr dirty! - seats, though good legroom, not much padding, hard on the backside! - entertainment: feature movie is the bachelor (circa 1999). no music offerings.

Bad experience... Flight schedule should be on time, ours was 2 hours delayed both ways ,Mla-Panglao-Mla. Priority lane for Seniors & PWD should be practice but our Panglao-Manila flight, both priority & regular lanes boarded the at the same time, the only difference is that we were coming on 2 different lanes. It depletes the purpose of priority lanes.

The speakers were way too loud. Music was played during boarding too. This noise could've been avoided.

Service was excellent, but they ran out of food options by the time they got to my seat (row 36).

The idea of needing to go outside in the winter to board in icy cold temperatures is totally a non starter for me. Seats were very uncomfortable though the leg room not too terrible. Attendants were nice

Easy check-in at yvr Pleasant flight crew More comfortable economy seating than usual

Food was not good, and the crew ran out of choices.

The experience was good. Flight was on time. Liked how they offered to accept carryon baggage for free before as I was checking in online.

We were sent via the ac app to a wrong gate. And then got a boarding message to the original gate. Had to run through the airport to get to the gate just in time. Were they purposely trying to trick me? The day before flight was sent a message for free change of flight. Kinda suspect they oversold the flight.

Super good. All the teams had a very good collaboration with each other

The flight attendants were lovely - very warm and kind. Really appreciated it.

For boarding, after family with youngsters, you should have 65 and over. Whatever rules, enforce them. It’s frustrating for those who respect them to see aggressive people rush to the gate out of turn…
