Pool was always too crowded. Unless you arrive before sunrise to reserve chairs at the pool or on the beach, you won't have a place to relax. Valet parking is expensive, timing to bring the car around not great - need to plan ~20-30 minutes in advance. The tipping is out of control. Included on most every bill is a 20% tip, but then advised that amount is shared among all service providers and incremental tip is appreciated. No real restaurant options for dinner for a family other than upscale steak house.

Felt captive and forced to use overpriced food and services. Resort fees but associated services were not onsite. Meals and drinks were grossly overpriced. Nothing in close walking proximity. Beach was very narrow. No coffee makers in room or free coffee services. Hotel prohibited and policed the possession of outside drinks or food, even on the beach.

Not the same Diplomat we remember. We’ve been staying at the Diplomat for 18 years. Ever since we were married here in Jan 2004 when it was a Starwood Westin property. We have tried coming back at least for a week each year. This year has been difficult because it’s not the same Dip. The resort is way overcrowded and the staff is swamped. That said, the hotel staff has been excellent under obvious extreme stress. They all need raises for the service they have provided and the way they have handled guest frustrations. And there are a LOT of frustrated guests. I’ll bullet point my frustration: - 45 min line to check in at 8pm. 2 staff members working the front desk - towel shortages resort wide. My room was serviced and we were left a single towel. Limited towels at the pool and beach if you can get them. Not enough towels by the pool or beach. 1/4 of the chair covers required to cover all the chairs. - only restaurants open are Diplomat Prime (only 4 days per week) and the Playa restaurant by the pool. - we saw no references to restaurants being closed prior to booking or in any communication from hotel. - in app messages were never returned - as a Diamond HHonors member, I was given upgrade selections prior to check in that were not honored at check in. I selected a Corner Ocean Suite, which we didn’t receive at check in. - beach is serviced by 1 waiter for the entire beach - pool, beach staff, and cabana rentals have all been outsource to 3rd party company, which have increased prices and reduced quality of customer service. - Bud, the pool manager walked away from me in conversation, as I explained that the beach staff gave my 5 reserved chairs away to other guests including the 2 umbrellas we were paying for. He then continued to try and sell me a beach bed for $200 saying the normal price is $300 (normal price is $200). He continued pushing the beach bed after I explained repeatedly that I just want my 5 chairs and 2 umbrellas that I paid for. Apparently this is. It an uncommon practice here at the Diplomat since the pool and beach service has been outsourced. If you leave your chairs, the staff will turn them over for new paying guests. If you rented an umbrella for the day at $22/day, you’ll lose your umbrella as well. - it’s impossible to get chairs by the pool unless you’re willing to venture down at 6am to claim chairs and place personal items on the chairs. Hoping they won’t be taken by other guests as you enjoy your breakfast that is delivered by Uber Eats since there are no viable breakfast options on property with the restaurant closures. - pool area under the upper infinity pool is being renovated and completely blocked off directly under. No renovations were listed on site or in our booking. - valet is completely disorganized. Depending on the time your looking to retrieve your car, it could take 45 mins. The whole driveway is a disorganized mess of cars. And they took away the option of calling down or texting for your car ahead of time. - it’s a shame. The Diplomat holds a very special place for our family, and it’s frustrating. there are several other things that have made our “relaxing” annual vacation to the Dip not very relaxing this year. - we come here to relax, but simple things like finding breakfast, or even getting a cup of coffee has become something you need to strategize and plan for. That’s not the way it should be. Especially when prices don’t reflect the limited services the Diplomat is offering at this time.

Pros:Pool and beach were great.
Cons:Rooms had only 2 towels and I had 4 people in my party. I ended up asking for more towels. I had to beg for toilet paper every time. Didn’t like the fact that we had to wear bracelets as if we were in an all inclusive resort when we were not. They didn’t want us to talk loud or laught a lot in our rooms. I have children and I had to constantly tell them to whisper because they didn’t want noise in the room. Very disappointed with this hotel. Too expensive for it’s quality.

3.4 Poor
Pros:Location of hotel, Rooms were nice
Cons:Poor Customer Service 45 min line just to check into your room I understand it was Memorial Day weekend, but over staff and prepare for large crowds. We were a wedding and booked 95 rooms they did nothing to accommodate us. Trash was left in hallways for 2+ days Front desk wouldn't give us enough wrist bands for pool. I was overall shocked, very poor hospitality!

Pros:I stayed at this property 3 years ago. Then the hotel was a bit ragged and showing its age. Since Hilton has taken over they've done an amazing job fixing the hotel.
Cons:It's pricey but I was on an expense account

Pros:Being on the beach was amazing and the faculties for the event was one of the best I have ever seen
Cons:The balconies were all closed off, the staff were rude and argued with you, no place to get food during the day. This please looks like a high end resort but has the amanties of a best western
A
7.1 Good
Pros:Location of the hotel is great, beautiful pool and patio, Great staff overall.
Cons:The hotel is under heavy construction switching from Westin to Hilton So if you like the sound of pile drivers at 6h00am every morning.... Nothing was told or specified when we made our reservation that the hotel was a construction site!!! Not professional at all!
