Patrons should be made aware of what is no longer provided once booking. The pool was closed. No dishwasher in room. Carpet needs replaced. Found good under bed. Rude check in person.
We got a great price on the room. I stayed there 8/11-8/12 for preop appts at Mayo. Then checked in a day early for surgery 8-15-20. First day I was alone, the rest my family stayed while I was in the hospital. Multiple times during our stay out key fob randomly didn’t work. Many other people said the keys were finicky so I carried on. The day we came back from the hospital was Thursday, 8/19 I was a fall risk and made it up to the door around back that we weee in and out of. The keys didn’t work. Cleaning crew were just inside the door (4-5 people staff. My wife was holding a key card attempting to use it to no avail. They wouldn’t open the door and ask what was up. I was having a hard time standing there, with a Mayo Clinic mug in my hand, and was moving very slow as I just got out of the hospital. As my wife had to circle the entire building and walk to the office (5minutes waiting on a sidewalk for me- after brain surgery, dizzy, and nauseated she finally arrived. This after numerous other room stuff walked by the rear Main locked door our keys didn’t work at. Once my wife let me in one of the rude you g wait staff was walking behind my wife and looked right at me, smirked, and kept walking, not even apologizing. It would have been very easy for folks to slow down, look at the demeanor, my slow movements and realize something was not right and maybe ask a couple questions. We had Mayo Clinic bags and mug, and other items to be brought in. We’re weren’t threatening in any way and have stayed there all week. My parents also stayed there. Moral of the story- slow down, ask questions and treat people as people. The answer we got from the front desk was they’ve had homeless people. We hardly look homeless. Way to win our business for future stays. We will choose to stay elsewhere. Many guests identified similar issues with the doors and key cards at rooms and entry doors. Hotel blamed it on being near other electronics. Being so close to a major hospital I would expect you to be handicap accessible and have staff compassionate and not hinder movement from people trying to freely move their rental property and when a problem is seen staff take time to find out if they can help instead of ignoring a clearly struggling family coming from the hospital back to rented property. The first night my family came with me for the surgery there was chunks of poop in the kid pool. The man at the front desk scooped it out and let people keep swimming and not adding any chemical or shutting it down. The big pool had clumps of hair floating in the bottom. Overall front desk staff were friendly, but not the most professional staff otherwise. Being 5 minutes from St Mary Mayo Hospital was nice. The experience at the hotel was mediocre. Breakfast was fine. Nice to have famous Dave’s restaurant connected. Makes a person wonder how clean the kitchen facilities are with the other service related issues. We will choose a different hotel next time
